Watching a wrinkle carve itself out across a forehead, 2023

- This work scrutinises my compulsion to hand-paint nail polish & scratch directly onto 16mm (junk) film in order to fill my studio time. When watched back on a Steenbeck editing table, or blown up onto a large screen these minuscule scratches, dust & smearing of nail polish transform into something otherworldly. They embody the immersive focus I held whilst making them & embed that time within the work. The speed of the video is dictated manually by how I controlled the speed dial on the Steenbeck, opting for a much slower frame rate than the standard 24 frames per second - akin to ‘analogue scrolling’.
